49/365 - Mysterious Eggs

I was watering the plants on Day 49, when something caught my attention. One of the pots had these little white ones, which I thought were mushrooms at first. I still haven't taken my picture of the day that time, so I told myself that after I watered the plants, I would get back in the garden and take pictures of the "mushrooms."

As I went on to finish my chore, I saw some more of the white ones in a different part of the garden. My curiosity got more aroused, and this time, I squatted to check it out. It certainly weren't mushrooms, but eggs. I quickly finished my chore so I could start taking pictures of my mysterious discovery.

True enough, the white ones were eggs. Eggs of what, I really can't tell. Could be that these were lizard's eggs, but I doubt it was, because I have seen real lizard's eggs, and they weren't as small as these. See the green leaf in the image? That leaf is just the size of my thumb, so the eggs were really so small (and so many) to become lizard's eggs.

Oh well, whoever owns the eggs, I am thankful I got my shot of the day. :)

48/365 - Hopeless Romantic

On Day 48, I used the mirror as a prop for my self portrait this week. Actually, this idea came about when I read the list for Kristi's February photo hunt game, and one of the items on the list was "your own reflection." Reflection could be literal or metaphorical (?), but for this one, I took it literally and went to my mom's room for some pictures.

At first it was indeed literal - me taking pictures of my reflection in the mirror, until I found a way to have two images of myself in just one picture. Seeing myself doubled up, I went on to play in the mirror, 'til I made this half a heart shape with my hand and as I put it in the mirror, it looked as if the heart was complete.

This picture wasn't the best of the bunch, but I chose this as my self portrait shot of the week because I took this picture with my eyes closed. Using the my right hand to form the heart, I used my left hand to hold my cell phone to get the shot. It was more of a faith shot - hoping I could get it right - and although the heart was a bit incomplete, I am happy with how this one turned out.

47/365 - Lover Ant

I found myself lost once again. Realizing that I promised myself I would resort to taking pictures of ants should I get lost and don't have anything to take pictures of, I quickly went to the garden to make the ants my models.

Mom just took off parts of the hibiscus plant where the ants lived, and I thought that was the end of it, until I saw a trail of ants leading to a small plant in the garden. This plant had little flowers and had little berries (people call it the mistletoe plant), which the ants have been feeding off. These ants would gather the small berries - two to three ants would carry a berry - and amused as I was, I followed them. It was difficult to take their pictures, especially that I had to fire my flash as it was already around 7 in the evening. The orange metal fence by the garden gave me more hurdles as the flash would fill the image with light, but somehow I managed to get this shot - an ant carrying a flower from the plant, to who knows where - maybe the ant was having post Valentine's Day jitters and was about to give a lady ant a flower. Whatever his purpose be, I am just thankful that the ants never fail me whenever I am in need of something to take a picture of.

46/365 - Salad for Dinner

The family did grocery the day before, and for quite sometime now, every time we would do the grocery, we would put some vegetables for salad in our cart. It was actually my way of eating less during dinnertime, and I was happy that the family was able to embrace this little effort of mine.

As always, it's lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and croutons... but this time, instead of the honey mustard vinaigrette, I chose to get the garlic ranch dressing. It's delicious, but I still opt to have the honey mustard dressing - it compliments the itty bitty bitter taste of the lolo rosso lettuce.

45/365 - In Stitches

It's Valentine's Day, and still... I have no one to celebrate it with.

But it's okay, I mean, Valentine's Day isn't just for the lovers, it's a day to express love - even for oneself.

I was browsing through my old fashion magazines to get some inspirations when I saw an undelivered love letter circa 2004, intended to be given to an ex boyfriend as I say thank you for the ring he has sent me. I have no use of the letter anymore, but the stationery I used was a personalized one - I cut out shapes of a heart and some flowers and stitched them into the paper. I didn't want to trash the art work that I made, and realizing it's Valentine's Day, I decided to tear out the heart from the stationery, took a part of the newspaper and took a picture.

I don't know if I could relate to the heart being in stitches or not... but somehow, I do hope in time this broken pieces of my heart will be picked up and stitched back together.

44/365 - Snail

I was cleaning up the side of the house on Day 44 - trying to take out the dried leaves and clean the cats' feeding area. Somehow, as I transfered the plant pots into one area so I could hose out the dirt, I saw different kind of critters like earth worms and snails (and some insects I don't know of). I have taken pictures of earth worms, so as I put them back in the soil where they belonged, I took the snail in my hands, went inside to get my camera and went back outside for a little snail photo shoot.

I guess the snail was kinda injured as the water from the hose hit, but it could also be that the snail was already too small for the critter. I wanted to take a picture as it walks, but the shell can't stand upright. For the final set of pictures, I just placed it by the trunk of a euphorbia plant, waited until it comes out of the shell and shuttered away. Injured or not, I am happy the snail cooperated. I guess somehow it being a slow creature did allow me to take pictures without having to chase it.

43/365 - Pink Flower

I have taken lots of pictures of this flower, and still I don't know its name. :)

I may have taken pictures of this already, but February was a photo hunt month over at Kristi's blog, and one of the items in the list was "something pink." There are really a lot of pink things, but I wanted to have a lot of choices, so when I saw this over our neighbor's garden, I went over to take a picture of it.

Somehow I am not that satisfied with this picture. I can't pinpoint if it's the framing or the composition, or the lighting. Nevertheless, I had to settle for this picture as I wasn't able to take any other picture for the day. :)
